Presence of dangerous

Ask for the safety data sheet; Check that the instructions given on the sheets are
complied with, with special reference to instructions on personal safety
equipment and information to workers on indicated risks. If it appears from safety data sheets that the load
may release toxic or/and inflammable gases or impoverish oxygen content at
access points and in the holds, agree upon access with the company’s PPO. Remarks (if

Dangers deriving from cleaning of the hold |
When cleaning the hold with manual equipment
(shovels, hoses, etc.) check that the following dangers are absent: ·
collapse of goods ·
sinking of goods ·
slipping of goods ·
falling of goods from bulkhead or skip ·
incorrect positioning because of an unstable
work area, or due to the lifting of goods using equipment. Fixed or portable ladders must in any case be
available to ensure the immediate evacuation and rescue of workers. Remarks (if

Shortcomings of personal protection equipment |
Check that whenever the hold floor is cleaned in the
presence of industrial vehicles workers are supplied with and wear protection
for the ears and airways at all times. Report any PPE defects and cases of workers that

Incorrect behaviour of
workers |
Ensure
that workers observe the following health rules. ·
They should not consume drinks or food during
working shifts ·
They should not smoke ·
They should always wear gloves |

Environmental pollution |
Ensure
that tarpaulin is placed over the area from the ship to the quay to prevent
goods from falling into the sea for the following products - sulphur, pyrite,
urea, nitrates, chloride and potassium sulphate. |
